Automated Truck Operator

About Your Role:

  • Test drive Class 8 trucks fitted with Locomation’s ARC technology.
  • Contribute to and follow plans to test ARC components and behaviors on private test tracks and public roadways.
  • Work closely with a Vehicle Test Engineer, who occupies the passenger seat, to operate the ARC system’s convoying and automated driving features.
  • Collaborate with a larger team to give feedback and insight on ARC technology and operations from a driver's perspective.
  • Participate in pilot programs with Locomation customers to showcase ARC technology in real-world customer operations.
  • Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador in every interaction with the team, our clients, and the public.
  • Contribute feedback to the development of driver training materials, fleet safety procedures, and similar.
  • Perform day-to-day tasks to keep Locomation’s fleet well-maintained.

About You:

  • Hold a valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with 5+ years experience in commercial trucking.
  • No serious tickets or preventable accidents in the last 3 years.
  • No DWI/DUI convictions.
  • Must pass a criminal background and pre-employment drug check.
  • Able to learn new software applications and processes (e.g. ELD and report writing functions).
  • Willing to travel extensively to test and customer sites.  2-3 weeks per trip.  5-10 trips per year.
  • Willing to participate in commercial pilot programs involving real customers, loads and workflow processes.

Nice to Haves:

  • Trade skills or certifications: welding, machining, fabrication, electrical/electronic or similar.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a small but growing team. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Experience at a start-up. 
  • Experience in autonomous vehicle development.
  • Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.).
  • High school diploma/GED.
